Corona High School Student Arrested for Threats Against School

A release from the Floyd County Board of Education says, "As always, our students' safety is the main priority of Floyd County Schools".

The sheriff's department was made aware of a separate threat at 8:45 a.m. Friday, made from one high school student to another, school officials said.

According to an audio message sent to parents in the Benton School District today, a threat was made late Thursday regarding Benton Junior High School. While buses were en route, however, police discovered the original threat was credible. "At that point they say they had arrested a suspect in this case", said Richie.

Later Friday morning, the district said that Cynthiana police confirmed the threat and that the suspect was in custody.

The Tulsa Police Department is responding to a reported bomb threat at Booker T. Washington High School.

In an Instagram post shared with The Saline Courier, a juvenile threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot teachers and students. Trooper Robert Broadwater said students were checked with hand-held metal detectors as they entered school buildings.

Bower said police found a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun, two machetes, throwing knives, two lever-action rifles, a revolver, and a crossbow with arrows and bulk ammunition. With the student not being in the building, school officials and law enforcement say they made a decision to place the school on lockdown in case the student arrived.
