Carson Wentz: Also tore left LCL; rehab won't be significantly impacted

He had no cane. He made his way to his stall. "The timetable stuff, I wish I knew just as much as you guys wish you knew", he said Friday. "It's a process coming back from something like this".
One of the great things about going to college in Miami was that the majority of my friends were from a completely different part of the country - Florida (obviously), California, Texas, Ohio, New England, the Carolinas, and even Hawaii. I have heard nothing from him.
But the most important message in Wentz's first 20 minutes with the media since the injury was that the Eagles aren't his team, as much as that might hurt to admit. Physically, of course, he has a long road of grueling rehabilitation ahead of him. His rehab is virtually the same. In fact, Wentz's last pass of the season, a 2-yard TD pass to Alshon Jeffery late in the third quarter against the Rams, was the record breaker.
"My goal is to be ready for Week 1, and I truly believe I'll be ready", Wentz said Friday at the NovaCare Complex. "I'm going to push and do everything I can to be ready". I've been very fortunate that I took advantage of that situation and we were successful to take it the whole way.
He admitted to feeling disappointed over not being able to play in the Super Bowl but said he's getting enjoyment out of watching his teammates thrive.
Wentz has been one of backup Nick Foles' biggest supporters.
It's not always easy. Pederson is not likely to make the same mistake a few times, but he is also not going to shy away from trying something again if it didn't work the first time.
"Every time the offense runs out there on the field on Sundays, its tough", Wentz said. "I can endure a little riff-raff here and there". Then, I'm in it, because I love these guys, and I'm a part of these guys as much as anyone else.
But Foles has played much better once the postseason began, most notably in the win over the Vikings. I think I'm a better situational manager in the games and preparing the team and my messaging with the team. And that fine line to me is that you can still not just be happy for the team winning, but to be happy for Nick who is at your position, who could potentially be stealing another person's thunder.
Wentz receives the Bert Bell Award after setting an Eagles franchise record for touchdown passes in a season with 33, over 13 games, exceeding the previous mark held by Sonny Jurgensen, who threw for 32 over 14 games in 1961.
Now, the 56-year-old is giving a bit of advice to the Eagles backup. revealing what it's like for a backup to take over under center in the Big Game.
Also receiving awards at this event will be: Baker Mayfield - University of Oklahoma (Maxwell Award); Minkah Fitzpatrick - University of Alabama (Chuck Bednarik Award); Bill Clark - University of Alabama at Birmingham (The Thomas Brookshier Spirit Award); Duke Greco - Delaware Valley University (Tri-State Coach of the Year); Shaquem Griffin - University of Central Florida (Uplifting Athletes Rare Disease Champion), and Bobby Bowden - Florida State (The Francis Reds Bagnell Award for Contributions to Football). And then after that, he'll get back on the field playing his brand of quarterback.
Having a second (of four) main ligament torn in the knee does add complication to the recovery.
Season-ending injuries have changed players before.
Could the same happen to Wentz? Simms remained healthy and played at a high level until that 1990 season, so Hostetler started two games from 1984 to '89. For those who can not see beyond your screen, I am raising my hand high in the air. That was who I was at the time. "As far as playing aggressive and being the player that I am, I won't change". Their teams already were at the precipice of the playoffs when they were called on because of an injury to a star. That play was synonymous with what we've seen all season.
