Cavs forward Kevin Love breaks hand

Kevin Love could be looking at a lengthy absence after suffering a hand injury during Tuesday night's Cleveland Cavaliers-Detroit Pistons game.

The deck was stacked against them. (Last season he shot 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep.) It's been a really slow start from him.

Cleveland has the Eastern Conference's third-best record at 29-20 but has gone just 6-12 since December 19, mainly because of a defense that is the worst in the National Basketball Association in terms of points allowed per 100 possessions.

Thomas is right - the Cavaliers have been an very bad defensive team all season.

Love is the third all-star to suffer a significant injury in the past few days.

Not because they lost the game, but because they lost Kevin Love for the next couple months while he recovers from a broken hand.

A miserable shooting effort to begin the second half was costly to the Cleveland Cavaliers as they fell to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night by a score of 125-114.

The Pistons repeatedly burned the Cavs in transition and finished the game with a 27-6 edge in fast-break points. "My only focus is to be with my teammates and try to help them". He was aggressive out of the gate, getting to the rim with some of his patented back cuts, and also provided strong defense.

So Stanley Johnson stole the show instead. He scored a career-high 26 points as he aggressively pushed the ball up the court and attacked the rim all night long. As a five-time All-Star, the 29-year-old could have potentially been used as part of a package to take someone like Drummond or DeAndre Jordan to Cleveland to give the Cavaliers a dominant defensive presence at center. He poured in three triples, and even had two and-ones as well. Center Hassan Whiteside is contributing 14.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks.

Luke Kennard didn't have it tonight.

Bucks sources have aggressively downplayed the idea that the team would trade Parker, although they admit the cap situation with his pending free agency could make this tight, but ownership at least seems to be onboard with re-signing Parker in July if management wants to go down that path.

"Right now, I'm not confident like I usually am", Thomas said about his continuing struggles to get back to his past All-Star level.

Bradley Beal had 21 points and nine assists for Washington. This is the first person that I've lost.

Much has been made recently about how James has a negative plus-minus for the first time since his rookie season.

"I needed that, and everyone in the room needed that", Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy said.
