Ozil commits long-term future to Arsenal

Egypt global Mohamed Elneny praised Arsenal new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and confirmed that Mesut Özil has signed a new contract.

Wenger's press conference earlier today revealed new signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang might not make his Premier League bow this weekend against Everton due to illness. It's a big job required for a club determined to get back on track.

Arsenal starting XI: Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal; Xhaka, Ramsey, Iwobi; Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Aubameyang.

'He has committed his future to the club at a period where we are in a tricky period.

"We expect from him that he becomes the lead and takes responsibility to lead the team to success". He can run. He is not a tackler - when he is angry he can.

The North London side have struggled to pick up points on the road this season, but they have been quite decent at home.

"Yes, because our defensive numbers are not good enough and that's where we needed some possible strengthening as well".

But fitting the PEA into the Arsenal pod could bring a fair bit of head scratching and puzzle solving for Arsene Wenger because the other options the manager has at his disposal.

The board at the Emirates were known to have targeted at least one central defensive arrival last month, with West Brom captain Jonny Evans having topped the club's wishlist ahead of rumoured deadline day target Kostas Manolas of AS Roma.

"On top of that we have to pay a transfer".

"What I wanted to do, I have done more".

"We don't necessarily need relief but we want to be more efficient on the football pitch". January has been a very hard month for us, it has been disappointing on the pitch, we have no room for any more defeats, it is important we respond quickly. That's our basic problem.

As it stands, Arsenal have scored 46 goals in 25 league games, which is much fewer than Manchester City's 73 and Liverpool's 57 - but comparable to United and Tottenham's 49 and Chelsea's 45.

The club chose to bring in chief scout (Sven Mislintat) from Dortmund and we can see the immediate impact he has had in our negotiations in recent days.

The Gunners lost 3-1 at Swansea City in an embarrassing manner on Tuesday, and as things stand, they are placed sixth in the league with 42 points - which put them eight points outside the top-four.
