Her Name Was Wynter-Police Identify Toddler Found Frozen on Front Porch

Police in Akron, Ohio, are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl on Friday who was discovered unresponsive and "frozen" on the home's porch by her mother.

The mother later told investigators that she had gone out with her 4-year-old son, leaving Wynter with the child's father, according to a statement from police.

Akron Children's Hospital meanwhile has provided some winter-safety tips for parents with young children, Akron Beacon Journal reported. She was unresponsive and taken to Akron Children's Hospital, where she died. She told the outlet that she has had to bring the kids home to their mother on multiple occasions.

Temperatures in Akron on Friday ranged between 12 and 19 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

"She's frozen! She's frozen!" the mother screamed frantically.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said the victim is 2-year-old Wynter Parker.

The child's death is under investigation, and authorities on Monday had not said whether charges may be filed in the case.

The mother was gone from the house for about two hours and the father, who works a night shift job, fell asleep.

"That is one of the things parents don't quite realize", Trnka said, urging parents to ensure their kids wear layers of clothes and monitor how long they are outside for. 'That happens much quicker for our little ones'. Crystal Lucas said she was surprised when police arrived at her door.

A USA woman told the 911 operator she had no idea how long her 2-year-old daughter had been outside in the freezing cold.

When authorities knocked on her door, Lucas says she recalls being anxious before bursting into tears.

"It was a few times where I had to take both of her kids home", Lucas said. "It was freezing and that was my biggest worry when the cops came", Lucas said.

She added: "It's just a very sad situation".
