Samsung Galaxy S9+ big new features come at a huge price

- The Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ look similar to the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ but they come with improved hardware. But by downloading these free wallpapers you can easily give your phone the Galaxy S9 feel. The Galaxy S9 will include what is being called the AR Emoji, which relies on conventional photos from the phone's selfie camera to transform a person's image into an animated emoji.

In terms of paper specs, Samsung's Galaxy S9 takes a slight lead over Nokia's offering as it brings to the table the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC - the Indian variant of the phone will be powered by the Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC.

Apart from this, the phone also comes with updates to Samsung's Bixby which can now use the phone's camera to offer live translation features, the ability to recognise the buildings and other places in a frame.

For the uninitiated, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ succeeds the Galaxy S8. Samsung said that to start with the company will use the blood pressure feature in its new phones with help of researchers from University of California, San Francisco. They have retained the 3.5mm headphone jack on their bottom edges.

The major improvements have been in this department and their tagline claims that the S9 and S9+ will "reimagine" the camera.

The S9 and S9+ will have dual speakers that will allow the phones to be 1.5 times louder than their predecessor. The SoC though still good enough to get you through most tasks you throw at it, is not as great as the one on Samsung, and as such could turn out to be a big negative for Sirocco. This allows maximum light, capturing crisper colours and details with reduced noise. The slow-mo videos can also be turned into GIFs.

Samsung's answer is AR Emoji, and it advances the idea with a cartoon that looks kind of like you. You can customize the clothes, hair, and glasses and the AR (augmented reality) recognizes up to 18 different expressions.

This year Samsung is also focusing on audio.

Samsung chose to double down on the camera. "My BP Lab leverages an innovative optical sensor available on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, announced today, to provide users with richer, more accurate information about their health status". The release date is set to be March 16, but it is still unclear if the phones will be available in India by then.
