#MeToo Founder Tarana Burke Speaks Out About Ryan Seacrest at Oscars 2018

News' decision to continue having Ryan Seacrest spearhead its Academy Awards red carpet coverage despite recent sexual misconduct allegations against him.

The network confirmed on Monday that he will still host its Oscars red carpet pre-show. Jennifer Lawrence told Howard Stern she wasn't sure whether she would, saying, "He has not been to trial for anything". Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest have been co-hosting Live With Kelly and Ryan together for almost a year, and their on-screen chemistry always seems on point during the daily talk show. Allison Janney, considered the front-runner for the best supporting actress Oscar, was among those who also spoke to Seacrest on Sunday.

Seacrest has denied these claims; in a statement to People, he highlighted his support of the #MeToo and Time's Up movements.

There was speculation that stars would avoid Seacrest because of sexual harassment allegations levied against him by a former employee. E! "Ryan will be hosting as scheduled on Sunday".

Despite renewed interest in the sexual harassment allegations against Ryan Seacrest, the personality will appear on the 2018 Oscars red carpet as scheduled.

The E! hosts also had to contend with a few awkward encounters in which they were questioned about the network's handling of a pay dispute with former on-air personality Catt Sadler.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the network described their plans as "business as usual ... I don't think any smart person would". "Some will avoid [speaking with E!] all together". When she arrived at the ABC carpet, she made a comment about how she was happy to be there.

Kathy Griffin - who was actually pretty refreshing on the E! red carpet until her joke about a young Dakota Fanning being in rehab got her fired - recently wrote a column for Timeon this very subject. If you were an optimistic person, or maybe even if you weren't, the red carpet shows and the Globes ceremony that followed suggested the climate in Hollywood could be going through a sea change in front of our eyes. Ripa issued a defense of her embattled co-host Thursday when she took a few minutes during their show to tell him much she "adores" working with him. Seacrest hosts the show with Giuliana Rancic, but the two conduct their interviews separately at different places on the red carpet. E! did seem to have fewer guests than some previous years, but several notable nominees were arriving just as Seacrest had to sign off. "They really shouldn't send him".
