Kristen Wiig comes on board to play the villain, Cheetah

With a tweet on March 9, Jenkins announced the news and shared that she "can't wait to finally work with one of [her] favorites". Director Patty Jenkins confirmed the news in a tweet on Friday. Her strength is derived by her hatred and jealousy for Wonder Woman.

Now that Kristen Wiig has officially signed on as a member of the Wonder Woman 2 ensemble, we will have to keep our eyes peeled for the first official look at her in her feline form. "And SO excited by what we have planned", Jenkins wrote.

In the comics, Cheetah and Wonder Woman are enemies and both are quite the competitors.

You wouldn't think it, but she would make a great villain.

Kristen Wiig will play a villain in the next Wonder Woman film.

There is little doubt that the film wouldn't have achieved such instantaneous blockbuster status without Gadot's on-camera charisma, and she's as celebrated overseas as she is at home - where she is touted as one of Israel's best exports.

Star Gal Gadot welcomed Wiig to the cast in a follow-up post and added, "This is going to be WONDERful".

Kristen Wiig who will step into the role of Cheetah is best known for her work in The Martian, Bridesmaids and on the series - Saturday Night Live.

The film is expected to be released on 1 November 2019, having been moved forward a month to avoid competition from the ninth Star Wars episode.
