Manchester City in multi-million pound match with Tinder

First raised by Select All, the issue has come as Facebook has beefed up its security in the turbulent wake of Cambridge Analytica scandal, which is now reported to have affected 87 million users.

Manchester City and dating app Tinder have entered a multi-year partnership.

UK's top Tinder users are being recruited to offer the world's first Professional Tinder Coaching service, for £35 an hour. Well, the problem is that in order to sign into Tinder, you must sign into your Facebook account.

Tinder operates in almost 200 countries, across more than 40 different languages and with millions of users using its app every single day.

In a new blog post on Wednesday, Facebook's Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer wrote, "Starting today, Facebook will need to approve all apps that request access to information such as check-ins, likes, photos, posts, videos, events and groups". For example, Facebook has said it will remove developers' access to people's data if the person has not used the app in three months. The changes could have wide-reaching consequences for apps that often rely on this data, including Tinder.

On Wednesday, a sudden change in Facebook's policy crashed The Tinder app, temporarily deleted users' matches and messages, and sent Tinderers into shear panic.

This means that the social media giant has denied Tinder's permission, which also hints that Facebook has potentially shut the doors for users to find love online.

The glitch does not appear to be affecting other dating apps that allow Facebook integration, like Hinge and Bumble, which both require a Facebook account to sign up.

Tinder is now trailing the feature to determine if users and potential lovers warm to the idea of live images. In the meanwhile, maybe try sliding into some Twitter DMs?

If you organise a date on someone's behalf, you'll have to give them a full briefing to bring them up to speed with who they're going on a date with and what they should do and say on their date.
