"It gladdens our heart that the congress went smoothly and was very successful across all the 351 Wards without any skirmishes or violence against the wish of the so called Unity forum".

He said: "I felt as a party that is driving the process of the administration of this country, we can not allow any of such important programmes or exercise to be marred by any kind of thing that would reduce its capacity or integrity".

Violence broke out at Okwagbe community in Jeremi 3, Ughelli south local government area of Delta state as Jeremiah Oghoveta, a chairmanship aspirant, was stabbed to death.

Also, there were reported cases of ballot-box snatching during the exercise at Ogor and Orogun Wards 1 and 2 in respectively Ughelli North LGA.

He said their congresses were monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC officials and party officials sent from the national headquarters of APC.

Authoritative sources told NAN that the leaders of the ward chose to conduct the election for the candidates, using Option A4 after waiting in vain for the INEC officials.

The leader of the ward and former labour leader, Frank Ovie Kokori described the congress as peaceful saying that the few persons seen complaining were those that lost out and that does not mean the ward is divided.

The governor said: "The reports I have heard so far across the state indicate that the congress went peacefully without any form of acrimony or rancour".

A correspondent of NAN who visited Limancin-Kona, Kwarbai A, Kwarbai B, Kaura, Gyallesu, Kufena, Muchia, Chikaji, Jama'a, Samaru and Bomo wards among others reports that many party members were gathered at designated areas waiting for take-off of the exercise.
