Trump tweets about meeting with Kim Kardashian West at the White House

Taking action! Kim Kardashian posed for a photo with President Donald Trump following their meeting at The White House on Wednesday, May 30.

Kardashian, 37, is known for her socialite TV persona, but has also called for the release of Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old who has been in prison for more than two decades for a nonviolent drug offense.

"She could have just saw the video or read an article or whatever and just said "oh that's a shame" or whatever and went on with her life, but she didn't, she chose to get involved in a major way", Johnson told ABC.

Wendy Williams blasted Kim Kardashian during the Hot Topics section of The Wendy Williams Show for meeting with President Donald Trump to discuss justice reform.

"I've been in communication with the White House and trying to bring her case to the president's desk and figure out how we can get her out", she explained.

Both of them tweeted about their meeting after, with Kim thanking the president for his time.

In addition to Trump, Kardashian met with Jared Kushner.

Before sitting down with the president, Kardashian West sent out a tweet to mark Johnson's birthday.

There was even a suggestion that Trump had agreed to the meeting with Kardashian West to distract the public from his failure to secure a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

It's unclear whether Trump will ultimately grant Johnson clemency. A change.org petition asking President Trump to grant Johnson clemency has also nearly reached its goal of 300,000 supporter signatures as of Wednesday.

Yesterday Kardashian also tweeted out the story of Matthew Charle.

Mic reported May 2 that Kardashian West and Kushner had spoken on the phone about the possibility of pardoning Johnson. Earlier this month, the White House-backed First Step Act, which would expand programs for prisoners and allow for more home confinement, was approved by the House Judiciary Committee.

Kardashian West's husband, rapper Kanye West, sparked a social media maelstrom earlier this month with his support for Trump.
