Kremlin floats Vienna as possible host of Trump-Putin meeting

Departing the White House for a fractious summit with European, Canadian and Japanese leaders, Trump said their 2014 decision to suspend Russian Federation from the group of the world's most advanced economies - after Moscow annexed Ukraine's Crimea region - should be reversed. After years in which Russia's wealthy were invited to base themselves in London without questions being asked about how they made their money, the Home Office is reviewing visas.

Despite the tension, the president was greeted cordially by Trudeau as he arrived at the annual gathering, held this year at a picturesque Quebec resort.

May also lobbied for additional measures including measures to stop illicit money flows undermining democracies and more information-sharing so that Russians expelled from one country do simply enter another.

"So, if I can get the president to actually realize that what he's doing is counterproductive for his own goals as well, then perhaps we can move forward in a smarter way".

A senior British government source said Russian Federation needs to change its approach before any conversation about it rejoining the G7 can begin. Putin is set to stay in the country till June 10, taking part in a summit of leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member-states.

Despite the current G7 turmoil, Tusk said more unites the group than divides it.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, whose country is an observer member of the SCO, will also attend the summit at a time when China and Russian Federation are seeking to save the Iran nuclear deal following the U.S.' withdrawal from the pact. "They understand. They're trying to act like, "Well, we fought with you in the wars" but they don't mention the fact that they have trade barriers against our farmers, they don't mention the fact that they're charging nearly 300-per-cent tariffs".

Trump has repeatedly put himself at odds with practically the entire U.S. political and security establishment over Russian meddling in the 2016 Presidential Election.

He went on: "One of those promises was to improve Russian-American relations".

"Russia is focused on other formats, apart from the G7", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a brief statement reported by the government-controlled Sputnik news agency. Trump tweeted Friday. "Canada charges the US a 270% tariff on Dairy Products!" "The American President may not mind being isolated, but neither do we mind signing a 6 country agreement if need be", he tweeted.

Mr Trump is expected to leave the summit early and travel to Singapore ahead of a meeting there with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Tuesday.

In a combined effort, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau failed recently to convince Trump not to impose tariffs on the allies.
