But finally, she held a "broader reconciliation" meeting with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in New Delhi in March 2016 and returned home to proclaim her renewed fondness for the BJP which in turn asserted the one-on-one meeting between the two was an affirmation of mutual understanding.
BJP general secretary Ram Madhav made the surprise announcement after the party high command summoned its Jammu and Kashmir ministers for emergency consultations in New Delhi.
The BJP blamed the PDP for failing to improve the security conditions in the Kashmir Valley.

Since its formation in 1951, the BJP has maintained a hardline stance on the Kashmir issue and has stood for the repeal of Article 370 of India's constitution which grants special autonomous status to the state. He said like the NC, the PDP was also caught by surprise, adding that his offer to the PDP to form government was one time offer and that expired the day the BJP and PDP formed the govt.
Sources in Mufti's Peoples" Democratic Party (PDP) said that after deciding not to extend the conditional ceasefire announced by the Centre for the Islamic fasting month of Ramzan, the Modi government has chose to launch a tough military campaign against separatist militants in the restive state and give a "free hand' to security forces to deal with the situation.
"Because the whole government does not belong to the BJP, there was a sort of discrimination which the people of Jammu and Ladakh were experiencing", he said.
The Governor also spoke to GA Mir, president of J&K Congress, who said that his party doesn't have the numerical strength to form the government on its own or even in alliance. "But right from the moment BJP had come to power in Jammu and Kashmir, we had said that the state was on the path of destruction", he added. While the BJP was keen to project a strong nationalist image, the PDP was keen on pursuing a "healing touch" policy that included more open borders and addressing the internal and external dimensions of the Kashmir problem through dialogue.
The decision also came days after the UN's human rights office called for an independent inquiry into human rights violations in both parts of Kashmir, run respectively by India and Pakistan.
The state will now be ruled by the governor until elections take place.
Having won all its seats from Jammu and Ladhakh, the BJP was apparently sensing a growing sense of dissatisfaction in the two regions with the performance of the coalition government. "We had to take a call for the interest of the nation", he said.
