Longtime Spur Parker to sign with Hornets

Tony Parker has agreed to a two-year deal worth $10 million to join the Charlotte Hornets.

Parker fell out of favor with the Spurs last season, averaging just 20 minutes and making 21 starts, in 55 games appearances. "Tough communicating it all to Pop", Parker told The Undefeated's Marc Spears.

Now that Parker is no longer in the picture, could this pave the way for Leonard to return to San Antonio?

During their 16 seasons as a backcourt duo, Parker and Ginobili helped the Spurs win four championships in five trips to the NBA Finals.

"I have no problem with Kawhi Leonard", Parker said to ESPN.

The only coach Parker has only known during his career, Gregg Popovich, later released a statement on the impact the point guard had on the franchise.

"I said yes because it was true".

The San Antonio Spurs could lose their best player this offseason, as Kawhi Leonard has been the subject of several trade rumors. During his career, the six-time All-Star averaged 15.8 points and 5.7 assists. "But that didn't lessen the significance of his injury". We are grateful to Tony for 17 years of truly fantastic memories. Parker willingly gave up his starting role to youngster Dejounte Murray last season. It's very sad that the media took one quote and made it sound like I didn't want to play with him.

"The biggest joy for me has been to have the pleasure of watching TP grow up before our eyes", Popovich said. In short, the 36-year-old's importance to the Spurs franchise is both obvious and noteworthy, especially on the heels of the news that Parker will be spending the next stage of his career with the Charlotte Hornets.
