‘Fortnite’ season 5 trailer brings golf carts and temporal rifts

The new crowning skin of Fortnite's Season Five Battle Pass appears to be a combination of God of War's Kratos and Marvel's Thor.

Viking ships, desert outposts, and ancient statues have appeared across the island. One giant map, A Battle Bus, Last one standing wins. But we have had a chance to read over the V5 patch notes, which have given us a glimpse at what the game is going to look like when it returns later today.

For season 5, Epic is changing things up adding new locations called Paradise Palms and Lazy Links, and there are new unnamed POIs too across the island. Grab your squad and cruise the map in style! This new vehicle can hold your whole team, and it's driven by working together as rear passengers to lean back and release at the same time for high jumps, and get a speed boost after drifting. Epic has brought some of them down to earth in the form of Rifts. It remains unclear how exactly this will work, but it's possible that players will be sucked into a Rift and be teleported to a different location.

In addition to these new features, "Fortnite" season 5 comes with a number of tweaks and fixes for the battle royale gameplay.

The endgame will behave a bit differently now, as well, as the center of storm circles seven, eight, and nine can now shift in random directions.

Those familiar with Fortnite will know that switching between two shotguns has become a staple of the elite who play the game, allowing for multiple up close shots in quick succession to down an opponent. However, the first storm circle will now only ever do 1 damage, no matter how long you're stuck in it. The heavy shotgun now fires 10 pellets instead of 5, but the maximum damage of the weapon has been unchanged. To rectify this, players can earn XP for reviving their teammates in 50v50 and Teams of 20 matches.

For Switch players, V5 adds gyro motion control options to the game.
