Fontana Police told The Blast that a bicycle officer made contact with Camp just hours before his sister reported him missing last week. "He was contacted by a local law enforcement agency a short time ago and not in need of any assistance", the tweet read.
The family continues to reach out on social media for any information that leads to Camp's whereabouts. "Thank you!" Marisha wrote.
Police were not releasing further details on the case Tuesday.
Camp rose to fame in 1998 after winning the first season of MTV'sWanna Be a VJ.
According to police, Jesse's sister reported that she last had contact with her brother "around the 11th or the 12th" of July, which she told officers was "unusual".
Riverside, Calif., police are now investigating the disappearance of former MTV video jockey Josiah Camp, better known as Jesse Camp.
Camp, whose known to be popular among "transients and homeless people" who hang out by a Sherwin Williams store in the Fontana area, was homeless himself in 1998 when he won MTV's contest, "Wanna Be a VJ".
She continued sharing posts of him in her Instagram Story, including a photo of him next to Meryl Streep.
An ex-girlfriend also told police that when she tried to call his cell phone, a stranger said Camp had given him the phone plus three bags filled with personal belongings.
"We did take a missing person report on July 19 from his sister who is out of state", Riverside Police Department Spokesperson Ryan Railsback told Radar about the 38-year-old former MTV star.
