Pogba is having a post-World Cup break and Sanchez did not fly out with United at the weekend because of what the club said was a "personal administrative issue".
"And when he doesn't play, we have to make decisions - it depends who is on the pitch". And with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and even Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial has found himself at the bottom of the pecking order as a striker.
Mourinho was not disappointed, however, insisting that the game was merely training for the season ahead.
The Reds boss appeared completely unperturbed by United's second consecutive draw on its USA friendly tour, conceding: "We are not a team".
Now, to know the bench strength at Manchester City is pretty good, there is a feeling that Manchester United need to add more top talent to their roster. "Dalot is injured, a small injury, a small surgery, we didn't want to lose him because of that and he's recovering really well and we think he can start training back in England, not ready for start of the season". Martial was a star in Van Gaal's last campaign at Old Trafford, scoring 17 goals that season.
Grant played his part in keeping the score 0-0 with a fantastic diving save to deny Tommy Thompson's long-range drive although, nine minutes from time, he could only watch as Yeferson Quintana's header came back off the crossbar.
"It was a friendly, the result was not the most important thing, but I think the players fought for the result". The club does want to keep Martial with Ed Woodward interested in activating the one-year extension in his current contract but Mourinho doesn't want to keep a disinterested player. "The objective is to prepare them the best we can for the start of the season because we don't have many more players than this one".
