Nate Diaz angrily reacts to Khabib Nurmagomedov-Conor McGregor announcement

McGregor, unquestionably the biggest star in MMA, will challenge lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UFC 229 headliner October 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Nurmagomedov, the Dagestan-born Russian champion, has been one of the pound-for- pound greats of MMA when healthy, racking up 10 consecutive victories since joining the UFC.

Nurmagomedov (26-0) proceeded to overwhelm Al Iaquinta in Brooklyn to capture the lightweight belt that the UFC had stripped from McGregor.

McGregor has posted several photos on social media this week hyping his physical fitness in advance of the announcement, which neither fighter attended.

The bout, which will take place at UFC 229, is already being talked about as one of the fights of the year and promotional video for the fight has broken the internet in predictable style.

The incident resulted in two felonies filed against McGregor, who ultimately pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct count last month that kept him out of jail.

Nurmagomedov was the intended target of McGregor's wrath after a previous spat between the fighters' camps.

A out between these two rivals has been on the cards since UFC 223, when McGregor attacked a bus which contained Nurmagomedov.

Tickets for UFC 229 are sure to be a hot ticket with some insane prices now that the highly anticipated return of Conor McGregor has been announced.

White didn't disclose terms of the deal that was reached.

"It's time to roll", Diaz said following his own two-year absence.

Fight fans are in for a treat as the UFC 25th Anniversary press conference will air live today (Aug. 3) at 4:30 p.m. ET.

"It's time to go, so it's time to go", Diaz said.

As it played, Diaz abruptly left the presser he was at and tweeted "I'm not fighting on that show (expletive) the UFC".
