Cam Newton, Kelvin Benjamin Have Awkward Exchange Before Panthers-Bills Preseason Game

Newton, the 2015 NFL MVP, said little in response, but did approach Benjamin on Thursday night near midfield, hand extended. The two seemed to have quite a tense interaction where Newton followed Benjamin around before walking away.

The comments that got the attention of Newton and plenty of other people - including Buffalo Coach Sean McDermott - featured this passage: "If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?"

Things likely won't get much better for Benjamin in Buffalo, as he'll be catching passes from either A.J. McCarron, Josh Allen or Nathan Peterman.

When it became clear Benjamin wasn't over their squabbling, Newton ushered away a Bills player for privacy, but Benjamin walked away from the conversation.

A reporter asked what Newton was trying to say to him. He also reiterated that he was "moving on" from his comments about Newton. Newton finished 6-of-9 for 84 yards while Benjamin hauled in four catches for 59 yards and a touchdown.

"Not at all man", he answered. Here are three takeaways from the Carolina Panthers bout against the Buffalo Bills. Well, Benjamin hasn't been a legitimate star in years, and Newton has one great season to his name with a bunch of other decent ones attached to his resume.
