Samsung eyes young buyers with gaming, music-friendly Galaxy Note 9

Launching the Note 9 at NY, or Friday midnight in Seoul, Samsung also announced partnerships with global hit game Fortnite and music-streaming service Spotify Technology SA in a stepped-up challenge to Apple Inc in the premium-phone race. For shooting selfies, it is equipped with autofocus enabled f/1.7 aperture 8-megapixel camera.

The big new feature for this round is, you guessed it, an AI camera. It's most blessed Note ever in terms of specs, battery size, and screen size, and has an S-Pen stylus with useful remote control tricks.

The Galaxy Watch battery life of up to 80 hours eliminates the need for daily charging and thanks to the LTE connectivity is a truly independent device experience through messaging, mapping and music.

It also comes with a Bluetooth-enabled stylus created to act as a remote for snapping photos and controlling YouTube video playback. You won't be able to use it one-handed, and those with petite hands may struggle but, if you're used to larger screens, you'll find the Note 9 easy to get along with instantly.

The S Pen has same drawing prowess and levels of pressure that we saw previous year but now it is also Bluetooth enabled.

Everything you have seen here today is a step forward in a connected world.

The Galaxy Watch sticks to the same rotating bezel design as the Gear lineup and runs on Samsung's Tizen OS. Major changes tend to come every few years rather than annually, and this isn't the year for anything revolutionary in the Note. Talking of the frame, Samsung says that it is created using diamond-cut techniques and hence makes the phone look slimmer.

The smartphone also comprises features such as wireless charging and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

"Customers can pre-order the smartphone on the Airtel Online Store starting August 11, 2018 and Airtel will begin the delivery of the device starting August 22, 2018", it added.

- The Note 9 comes with heart rate sensor, embedded in the rear cover under the camera.

That loyalty means there's an appetite for the Note 9 even if it's got an eyebrow-raising price. It comes in four colours, Midnight Black, Metallic Copper, Ocean Blue, and Lavender Purple.

Additionally, all pre-orders will receive a choice of 15,000 V-Bucks for Fortnite (worth $150) or a pair of AKG N60 noise-cancelling headphones ($300 MSRP).

Samsung poured all its resources into the Galaxy Note 9 after disappointing sales of the Galaxy S9 in the first half of this year led to smartphone sales dropping by eight million compared to the same period of 2017 and its global market share fell 1.7 percentage points. This will be for the 128GB variant with the 512GB variant priced at least Rs 5000 higher.
