Obamas praise Aretha Franklin as 'truly one of a kind'

She worked for us. The choir of angels now have the greatest voice of all time to lead, praise and join in to sing before Jesus.

The singer said that she and the Queen of Soul ended up bonding the last time she spoke to her.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer performed at Aretha's memorial concert Thursday night. "She refused to be extorted or disrespected". And while no one could claim Hill's rendition of "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" (which Hill has performed many times before) wasn't passionate and honest, it seemed nerves got the better of her Friday. He stans! "This woman got us all here in these seats today, not because she had this breathtaking talent, which she did, not because she grew up as at least the princess of soul... but because she lived with courage".

Franklin's body was dressed all in gold, with a long sequin gown and high heels to match her gleaming gold casket. Her former husband Glynn Turman, who was at her bedside when she died, said that she was "a strong woman to the very end". An arrangement from singer Sam Moore included a card that read, "You know I always adored and loved you to bits and pieces".

"She understood how to wield power without raising her voice". When Franklin's casket was escorted into the museum, 46-year-old Sir Diego Brazil of North Miami Beach, Florida, said he couldn't help but burst into a rendition of Amazing Grace. I am proud to have met Aretha, and am grateful that her music will continue to bring joy to millions for generations to come.

In a speech memorializing Franklin, the Rev. Al Sharpton recalled Franklin's activist side, noting she raised money for the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and created "the soundtrack of the civil rights movement".

The cars are a reference to her song, "Freeway of Love", in which she sings: "We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love in my pink Cadillac". Aretha took orders from no one but God, ' he added.

The line brought the majority of attendees at Greater Grace Temple to their feet for whoops and long applause, more than nearly any moment during a service that saw plenty of ovations for the many performances and speakers.

Aretha was dressed all in gold for her final outfit as she lay in the open casket at the front of the church as mourners arrived.
