Sheriff: Man shot after concert tickets argument

When sheriff's deputies responded to the confrontation, Elizarraras pulled out "a silver-plated semi-automatic handgun" and fired "several shots" into a crowd just outside the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Daniel Elizarraras, 22, from Escondido, was told that the show was sold out at around 6:40 p.m. on September 2, after which he got into an argument, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Homicide Unit.

"An argument ensued", the sheriff said in a statement.

It has been reported by several local news outlets that a sheriff's deputy was shot but no civilians were injured in the incident.

Ice Cube tweeted at his fans, "come see ya homie Cube... but leave the strap at home".

Police cordon off the area at Del Mar Racetrack where shots were fired ahead of an Ice Cube concert.

A video posted to social media appeared to show a deputy firing four shots at a man who collapsed in front of a ticket window as bystanders exclaimed. Nobody else except the suspect was injured in the incident.

His condition was not immediately available.

The gunfire happened as the final race of the day was underway, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. Passing concert-goers can be heard shouting expletives after the shooting.

We are aware of an ongoing San Diego Sherriff's Department investigation into an incident on the Del Mar Fairgrounds today in advance of a concert featuring the artist Ice Cube.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said in a statement: "As is our special events protocol, substantial law enforcement and private security was on site in anticipation of the event".

At 7:22 p.m., Del Mar Racetrack tweeted that the incident had been contained and that the concert was taking place as planned.
