Apple iPhone XR: The Cheaper iPhone That Might Be a Better Deal

Playing second fiddle to the iPhone announcement was the Apple Watch, which is getting a brand new upgrade this time around.

In addition to new models, Apple is also expected to unveil a gold-color option for the two new OLED-screened phones, a new version of its wireless Airpods earbuds with wireless charging and a new version of its Apple Watch with a bigger display.

Unveiled at the company's Gather Round event in Cupertino, it will be available soon after the also new iPhone XS and XS Max.

Chief executive Tim Cook said the third-quarter results were driven by continued strong sales of iPhones, services and wearables. We're talking some small upgrades on last year's iPhone X model (which at the time was billed as "the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone").

The XS model will set you back $1,629 for the 64GB model and $2,199 for the 512GB.

The file also mentions the Apple Watch Series 4 by name, and indicates that the new watch bands will be available in wider sizes. Many analysts have suggested that the XR will start at around £700 while the XS and XS Max will cost anywhere between £999-£1,200.

In its guidance for its fiscal 2018 fourth quarter (ending September 30), Apple is expecting a revenue between $60bn and 62bn while gross margin is predicted between 38 and 38.5 per cent.

The OS, Watch OS 5 is also due for release in this event with several new features. The shares slipped 1.2 per cent in NY. THE NEXT-GEN iPad Pro could be the first iDevice to use a non-proprietary Apple connection. An iPhone XS Plus will likely cost even more.

Nash showed off a version of the HomeCourt mobile app built for the new iPhones that can track a person's movements on a basketball court without the help of additional sensors scattered around the area.
