Liverpool made history in Klopp's 600th game in management as they have now won their first seven matches of a season in all competitions for the very first time.
But the Switzerland internatonal was hauled off at half-time by Klopp and replaced by James Milner to sure up the midfield.
The only sour note for Liverpool was that Virgil van Dijk left the field with what looked to be a rib injury shortly after the break.
Sturridge opened the scoring for Liverpool on the night, on his first Champions League start since 2012, heading in Andy Robertson's cross midway through the first half.
"He already had a bruise in the ribs before the PSG game, which is very uncomfortable and today he got another hit there", stated Klopp.
"On the defensive side the last two games were outstanding, ideal from him".
"It's just good to have him; the free-kick was outstanding".
'It's not cool, but it should not be too serious. "I didn't hear anything different".
"It is a completely normal for an offensive player when you have times that you don't score".
"At either end of the half as well, you want to get into half-time without conceding and, unfortunately, we conceded two easy goals from opportunities that could have been avoided in terms of what we were trying to do". Offensively, it was a good idea but, how I said, we have to work on that more often. "I explained it to him so it's no problem", Klopp said, as quoted by the club's official website.
More impressive, it's another cleansheet for the team. "That's good. He was good and I liked it".
"But now the next one is coming on Wednesday and then coming again on Saturday and then again on the Wednesday". Even with a drop off, they should still take the three points and the win to nil is a decent way to cover the possibility of a scrappy victory.
Salah raced up the other end and almost scored within 15 seconds of Hojbjerg's miss, back-heeling wide of the post from inside the six-yard box, while Sadio Mane tested the handling of McCarthy as Liverpool knocked on the door for a third before the interval.
