Michael Avenatti tweets out shocking new allegations against Brett Kavanaugh

Trump, who himself faced allegations of sexual misconduct during the 2016 presidential campaign, intensified his defence of Kavanaugh in recent days and has pointedly questioned the accounts provided by Ford and Ramirez.

The accusations have prompted U.S. President Donald Trump to weigh in Tuesday, saying the Democrats were playing "a con game", and that Kavanaugh was "a wonderful human being".

Attorneys for the woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her decades ago has submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee signed and sworn statements from four people who say they were aware of the allegation before it was publicized. She says he assaulted her at a party in high school in the 1980s. "I think it's doing well", he said. A split-second facial expression, a tear or a choice of words by either witness could prove decisive.

"If such a thing had happened, it would have been the talk of campus", Kavanaugh said.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) calling an experienced prosecutor a "female assistant" probably isn't doing his party any favors to prove Republicans know how to respect women. "If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and the vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations".

Still, Democrats used the optics of the move to highlight their belief that Republicans weren't giving Christine Blasey Ford a fair hearing and intend to push the process ahead regardless.

Limbaugh led into his statement to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and his fellow Republican senators with a "golden showers" joke, but quickly grew more serious in his tone. Susan Collins of Maine, Arizona's Jeff Flake and Alaska's Lisa Murkowski _ would react to the latest accusation.

According to Ford, she was forced by Kavanaugh during a teenage drinking party into a room, where he attempted to take off her clothes.

Kavanaugh's confirmation would firm up conservative control of the Supreme Court and advance Trump's goal of moving the high court and the broader federal judiciary to the right.

Even so, Trump insisted Kavanaugh's confirmation is "really working out well".

Pushing forward with Kavanaugh has its own risks, besides an embarrassing defeat for Trump and the GOP.

But since Blasey Ford's charges, one and possibly two more women have come forth with similar allegations of sexual assault or abuse when he was young. MacCallum asked him how long he was a virgin in college, after he volunteered that he never had sex in high school.

Kavanaugh's claim during a Fox News interview Monday that he was a virgin until "many years" after high school was "absolutely false and a lie", Swetnick said.

Ramirez told the magazine that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her while they were both students at Yale.

Ford, a university professor in California, has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in 1982 when they were both high school students in Maryland.

"I remember her saying that the attacker's name was Brett Kavanaugh, that he was a successful lawyer who had grown up in Christine's home town, and that he was well-known in the Washington, D.C. community", Russell Ford said. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called on Kavanaugh to withdraw in light of the allegations against him, and said if he does not, an FBI investigation is needed before any Senate vote on confirmation.

In his declaration, Ford's husband said he learned of his wife's experience with sexual assault "around the time we got married" but that she didn't share details until a couple's therapy session in 2012.

Trump said Ford's allegation was 36 years old "and nobody ever heard about it". Dozens were arrested in Senate office buildings.
