New 'Black Mirror' Is Coming This Year, and the Details Are Nuts

The Black Mirror Season 5 news along with the interactive Netflix news comes to us via Bloomberg. Netflix plans on having shows and movies that have interactive storylines that viewers will be able to control throughout the duration of the project.

At the tail-end of a year ago Netflix announced that it was planning to develop a choose-your-own adventure-style TV show for adults - following on from a successful foray into the same sort of programming aimed at kids. Black Mirror is a fitting choice to test out the capability, as it's concerned with the implications of technology.

According to Bloomberg [via Deadline], an upcoming episode of Black Mirror might use the Choose Your Own Ending gimmick in the fifth season, which is due to premiere this December. Prepare to feel not just hollow and gut-punched at the end of that episode, as usual with Black Mirror, but complicit in the likely disturbing outcomes of your actions. The streaming platform has experimented with the interactive format with its children's programming, and is looking to expand upon that idea. (Nothing like binging some psychologically-scarring television around the holidays!) But the real news is that in one episode from the new season, viewers will be able to interact with the story and make decisions to determine the ending.

Previous year we learned Netflix was in the midst of testing out a choose-your-own-adventure format.

Anyhoo, nothing further to report at this time - up to and including when the next season of Black Mirror hits Netflix - but rest assured we'll be keeping you informed as further updates roll in.

But is this a good idea?

This is about as Black Mirror as Black Mirror is going to get.

It also states that Netflix is planning to develop two popular video games.

Netflix is about to let you decide how your favorite show will end. Earlier this year, HBO released their own interactive program.
