Trump called on Cecilia Vega, a White House reporter for ABC News, before musing about her aloud.
Vega stood up and said, "I'm not thinking about that, Mr. President". It was only at the end of the media conference on the trade deal that Trump answered Vega's question.
Trump: That's okay. I know you're not thinking, you never do.
"No, go ahead. Go ahead", Trump said. She was called upon by Trump to pose a question with Trump immediately commenting, "She's shocked that I picked her".
Ms Vega proceeded to ask a question on the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into Mr Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.
The Trump administration scored a sizable victory in the new trade deal between the United States, Canada, and Mexico effectively updating the NAFTA agreement that Trump deemed a "disaster" coming into his presidency. But the president also tried to strike a lighter note, joking about his own bad reputation in the press. "Mr. President, just to wrap up, do you promise to release the Federal Bureau of Investigation report'".

Trump went on to discuss how he had avoided alcohol. Portions of Trump's joint news conference with Vladimir Putin of Russian Federation didn't appear in the official White House video or transcript, including a segment in which Putin expressed that he supported Trump in the 2016 election and wanted him to win.
Late-night host Seth Meyers also spoke about it during his show Monday night, saying, "I mean, how much of a sexist d- can you possibly be?" But Trump ignored her, telling one of his staffers to pass the microphone to another reporter.
"I'm not a drinker I never had beer in my life!" "You know what? You've had enough".
"No, go ahead", Trump said. "It's unfair to him at this point".
When the White House distributed a transcript of the meeting to media contacts, the line was different, with an incongruous "thanking" substituted for "thinking". What a mess I would be.
