Liverpool v Manchester City — Big Match Focus

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan admitted nerves are inevitable ahead of a Liverpool trip that he considers the toughest in the Premier League.

Most fans and pundits expected the Premier League to be a two way battle between reigning Champions Manchester City and Liverpool this season.

"We have to be spot on, at our best to keep them away from our goal and create chances in front of our goal".

Guardiola did not say whether De Bruyne would be in the squad to face Liverpool, but you get the sense that if the 26-year-old is in anyway fit then he will play some part in the tie.

City head to Anfield sitting top of the league on goal difference from Liverpool so Guardiola will be keen to at least maintain that advantage with a positive result and their chances of getting something from the game have been boosted by the potential return of De Bruyne.

The most eagerly-awaited game of the Premier League season so far as first visit second.

Keita was taken off during the 1-0 defeat to Napoli in midweek with back pains and had to attend hospital in Italy. At the end, it's the teams and the clubs that win the game. It makes them the biggest force, at the moment, together with PSG in world football.

"A lot of times it was really close that it could be good but there was no real ideal decision. I don't know what is going to happen".

The City boss claims his team should not need the protection of the police to ensure there is no repeat of the ugly scenes that marred their last trip to Merseyside in April.

"These kind of games we have to be ourselves", he added.

"Why should the police need to be there?"

"All we can do is try to do our job".

De Bruyne's inclusion would be particularly surprising, with the Belgian initially expected to be out for between and three months after picking up a knee injury in training a week into the season. I think we had a lot of praise, too but for us, when you have a vision you start to compare - we should be so proud and we are.

"I always believed and feel in my game we should attack better and be protected when we lose the ball".

"What I know, because I know how I would be in that situation, is that they lost the quarter-finals against us a year ago and the league game here after a long run without a defeat and they want to respond".
