But to some - especially those who study African history - her fashion choice in Kenya was still a big error on the global stage: the sight of a first lady wearing something so closely associated with the exploitation of Africans.
During that visit, the former model was snapped cuddling a small child and couldn't stop smiling as she comforted the youngster. She passed out "Be Best-themed" items, including blankets and teddy bears to some of the new mothers at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
His statement referred to Donald Trump's actions and words that caused the U.S first lady took her visit to Africa.
Mrs Trump is the founder and promoter of the "Be Best" initiative created to improve the welfare of children.
During the 20-minute drive from the airport to Chipola Primary School in Lilongwe, locals gathered to try and catch a glimpse of Trump.

The first lady was told about the conditions the children face and their backgrounds, according to The Associated Press. "The positivity and passion to learn was so evident in each classroom, and I appreciate the time everyone took to show me around the school". The elephant seemed to come at her in a playful way, however, and after momentarily losing her balance, Trump laughed off the brief incident. But the State Department's spokeswoman, Heather Nauert, dismissed questions about the mixed messages.
Her stepsons have also been criticised for their passion for hunting.
Later during a visit at the USA embassy in Malawi, the first lady called her visit to the school an "amazing experience".
They are demanding reversal decision on health budget cut to Africa including Malawi.
"I think she's kind and nice".
He said the Trump administration has an incoherent policy toward Africa, and the US has been "asleep at the switch" as China has stepped in to fill the foreign development vacuum.
President Trump has praised his wife's work on social media, saying she is "doing really well in Africa".
Beyond hosting first ladies at the White House or meeting with them at the United Nations, it is unclear how much Trump knew about Africa before she chose to visit. "I will never forget [the] incredible experience and the stories that I heard", BBC reported.
