Miami Heat Ready to Move on From Jimmy Butler Trade

Jimmy Butler #23 of the Minnesota Timberwolves reacts in the second half during Game Five of the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on April 25, 2018 in Houston, Texas.

Per The Athletic's Shams Charania, Butler talked at length with his teammates, airing out his feelings about them and the team at large.

"I think that I was honest". I'm being honest with you.

Forward Anthony Tolliver and guard Jeff Teague took a few Butler-related questions after practice, but neither would even fully confirm that Butler practiced. Butler then spoke at length with ESPN's Nichols, discussing his contentious relationship with the team and coaches. "I don't think it's distracting me, but maybe it is distracting some other guys".

Not only that, but ESPN and Minnesota's own Jon Krawczynski have reported that the whole interview process and the out-of-control Butler at practice was 'orchestrated'.

Thibodeau, the Wolves' coach and president of basketball operations, said in late September that Butler's trade request hadn't come until the previous week.

It got to the point where the noted Boston sports zealot was publicly lobbying the Celtics to trade for Butler. I said, 'Every time I get switched onto you, you pass it.' I'm a competitor. Butler had been away from the team while the Wolves were in California for a preseason bonding trip.

A proposed blockbuster deal between the Timberwolves and Heat fell apart over the weekend just before it was completed.

The window for the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves to reach a deal to send Jimmy Butler to South Beach is closing fast.

ESPN reports that Butler yelled at teammates and front office people during the session, screaming at GM Scott Layden "You (bleeping) need me". Most of the players knew the invectives were directed at Towns and Wiggins, league sources said.
