Early Voting Turnout Exceeds That of Four Years Ago

In Mason County, where 13,293 registered voters are registered, County Clerk Stephanie Schumacher said she is looking for less than half of those to visit the polls and cast a ballot on Election Day.
Advance voting in person ends Monday at noon.
Residents have one more chance to vote, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Election Day.
No. 2: Take the filled out mail-in ballot to your local elections office between now and Election Day.
More than 1.48 million people have voted early, and more than 1.9 million people have voted by mail.
The voter turnout for November 2016 was 72 percent, while the turnout in November 2014 was 48 percent.
Both Registrars also encourage voters to check their voter registration and polling place before the election. The state has settled firmly into Republican-dominated territory. Ballots received after November 6 won't be counted. Through Thursday, early turnout was 217 percent of what it was in 2014.
Though that only translated into 15,876 ballots cast as compared to the Republicans more than 34,000, St. Johns County Democratic Party Executive Committee chair, Nell Seymour Toensmann, attributed it, in an earlier interview, to Democrats being "energized" during this election cycle.

For the scorekeepers, though, Virginia, among the states that doesn't have party registration, is replicating its 2017 voting boom - and Democrats swept the top offices past year even amid strong GOP turnout.
Early voting is already underway at the Registrar of Voters at 5600 Overland Ave., San Diego, 92123 on the County Operations Center campus.
That's about half a million more than the number of those who voted early in the last midterm election, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
- Voters who recently moved to New Hampshire will have to submit additional documentation after the state Supreme Court overturned a lower court's ruling that had placed the requirement on hold. On Friday, a federal judge ruled that election officials must make it easier for voters whose registrations are pending to prove they are USA citizens when they go to the polls.
Federal law protects against such crimes as intimidating or bribing voters, buying and selling votes, impersonating voters, altering vote tallies, stuffing ballot boxes, and marking ballots for voters against their wishes or without their input.
Voters can request an absentee ballot for the 2018 general election by submitting an application directly to their county clerk through Friday. If that held through Election Day, it would be a huge number.
It also contains special protections for the rights of voters, and provides that they can vote free from acts that intimidate or harass them.

They can send in their ballot by mail, drop it off at the Registrar of Voters Office in Kearny Mesa or drop it off at any one of 59 additional sites throughout the county before Election Day.
