Liverpool confirm 21-man squad for Red Star Belgrade clash

Liverpool have left Swiss worldwide Xherdan Shaqiri out of the squad for Tuesday's Champions League tie at Red Star Belgrade.

Liverpool will visit Red Star Belgrade to play a UEFA Champions League group stage match on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

The humiliating defeat to the Champions League minnows leaves Liverpool's hopes of progressing to the knockout stages in tatters.

When asked to pinpoint where it had gone wrong for the Reds in his post-match news conference, Klopp said: "I only have 10 fingers". He elaborated: "They were aggressive".

Liverpool started the game at the top of Group C and knew victory would move them to the brink of qualification for the last 16.

"That's the thing, not taking the chances when we're creating them". That is the main problem. The visitors give possession away cheaply once more and they are in deep trouble now. We never came back into situations. We have a long flight home and have enough time to think about it. It could yet be a moment that they look back on and see as a turning point in terms of giving them the shock they need to rediscover their best form, but supporters are right to be slightly concerned after what they saw in Belgrade tonight. You have to be very natural.

Strong, powerful in the air and seemingly an able striker of the ball, Pavkov's repertoire was too wide-ranging for Liverpool to cope with as he inspired the win with two completely different types of goal.

Good evening! Welcome to the Live Updates for Red Star Belgrade Vs Liverpool in the Champions League. We've got the experience of playing in these stadiums before and we're just to focus on the game at hand.

According to the newspaper, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp doesn't want the distraction of the fixture becoming political - which it would do if the attacker was included in the squad. I don't say it is already serious if we lose twice but we have to make sure it will not happen again otherwise it will be hard as the next game is already an away game [at Paris Saint-Germain].

However, Red Star is a different proposition at the home and a record of 33 games undefeated in all competitions is some achievement.

But if it's really about what happens on the field, then surely Klopp must be tempted to pick Shaqiri for the squad.
