The queen asks Meghan's mom to spend Christmas with the royals

Others put emphasis on the fact that Kate Middleton wasn't invited to the estate until after she married Prince William in 2011, even though they had dated for years.

The invitation would break the royal standard guide which has been followed for ages now.

The Daily Mail reported on Sunday that Queen Elizabeth II has extended an invitation to Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, "as a mark of her respect" for Meghan.

US-born Meghan moved to the United Kingdom ahead of her royal wedding in May this year, but the Duchess - who is completing the long process of becoming a British citizen - can still vote in America. It is known that Meghan hasn't got any family in the United Kingdom, so it would be very nice to have her mother near her.

Doria supported Meghan through the highs and lows of her wedding.

A senior royal source told us about this nice gesture. While Kate's family have joined the Royals for mass on Christmas morning, they stayed at Anmer Hall. The palace announced Meghan was pregnant on the first day of the couple's visit to Australia, but the duchess didn't let the hectic schedule phase her, and only missed two official engagements during the 16-day tour.

As the wives of Princes William and Harry, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (AKA Kate Middleton) and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (AKA Meghan Markle) are arguably some of the world's most influential women. Meghan Markle rocked an electric blue ensemble from her wedding dress designer Givenchy - but what most style spotters failed to notice was that the fabulous pleated skirt that she combined with the matching sweater was see-through!

Mr Markle pulled out because of health problems just days before she was due to walk down the aisle and admitted he had staged paparazzi pictures.
