The Mountaineers either need to lose their last two (at Oklahoma State, vs. Oklahoma) or the Sooners need to lose to West Virginia in two weeks.
Alabama and Clemson are still ranked No. 1 and No. 2 after earning fairly easy wins on Saturday. The only three teams ahead of the Wolverines are Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame in that order.
In Ohio State's case, the body-of-work argument was strong enough to overcome being bumped from the Big Ten title chase by Penn State, a team the Buckeyes had lost to in a close game at Happy Valley. It's not as if Alabama would have a loaded resume, with victories against LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn at the top.

However, Georgia still controls its own fate as it will face Alabama in the SEC Championship Game on December 1 in Atlanta. A 12-1 SEC champion Alabama is not getting left out of the playoff, nor should it under any available circumstances this season.
