Cleveland Browns deny offering Condoleezza Rice head coach interview

Dorsey's statement came after ESPN reported the Browns were considering Rice for an interview.

The hour or so we all thought the Browns were going to interview Condoleezza Rice to be their next head coach made for a lot of great takes.

After Dorsey's statement on Sunday, it appears that glass ceiling will remain intact for now.

"I just want the best possible head coach to move this thing forward regardless of age", he said.

That's something Rice is hoping for.

Rice had previously said that being the commissioner of the NFL was her dream job and in 2014, the scandal-plagued league, was apparently seriously considering her for the role.

She also posted on Facebook on Sunday "she's not ready to coach" and she would "like to call a play or two next season if the Browns have ideas". He finished with a 3-36-1 record during his two-plus seasons as Browns head coach. One doesn't have to play the game to understand it and motivate players.

Yeah, that went exactly as we expected. There are three women now serving on coaching staffs in the league. And at no time will I call for a "prevent defense".

Rice is a known avid football fan. After leaving the world of politics, Rice became involved in the world of sports, serving as a member of the College Football Playoff Committee and chairing the Commission on College Basketball. But since the Browns are the team that's reportedly interested in her, the internet almost exploded.

Rice served as 66th Secretary of State of the United States from 2005-09.

The Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson earlier this season.
