Champions League: Treat Young Boys clash as ‘last chance’, Mourinho tells United

Manchester United's terrible start to the season continued with a snooze-inducing 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon and it is clear that new signings will be needed when the January transfer window opens.

Mourinho has often appeared downbeat throughout the campaign, as well as frustrated at a perceived lack of transfer activity, and he was unimpressed with the way his side approached the Palace game.

Manchester United know victory over winless Young Boys with Valencia failing to see off Juventus will send them through to the Champions League knockout stages.

"Tomorrow is not vital because even if we lose we depend on nobody but ourselves", he explained to reporters on Monday.

"What he said the other day, that was more a generational thing, I don't think it was really aimed as much at us as individuals".

"Look, when we saw that, training is much more important. If you feel pressure, stay at home. and I don't mean stadium home, I mean home home!"

"Obviously thats what we need to do".

Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw are set to return for Manchester United against Young Boys in the Champions League. "If we can have Victor available for that period, that will be good".

"I think he's come out and said it publicly and said that's why he feels he has to play like that - but the culture of Man United isn't that".

Mourinho tweeted, "Lindelof injured?"

"I would say if we have him for the Christmas period where we need, if possible, every player to be available for that hard period until the Newcastle match on January 2". And their boss Hodgson says that Lindelof showed great desire to play through injury at the end. We're all disappointed but we need to fight for the club and the team and the manager.

"He played against Russian Federation three days ago or two days ago, but of course, we need him when he plays".

Regarded by many as one of the finest - if not the finest - overseas player to ever play in the Premier League, the Frenchman managed 64 league goals for United in that time.

"For example one is Koulibaly, who is high on Mourinho's list of a ready-made player, and then De Ligt as a guy to develop alongside him".

'I want the team to start strong and go strong on the opponent, not to be waiting, ' he added. It is about winning or losing.

"I have never lost confidence in the team".
