Cesc Fabregas set to fly to Monaco for talks

Cesc Fabregas missed a penalty and then cried on what could be his final Chelsea appearance as the FA Cup holders beat Nottingham Forest in the third round.

Chelsea is the defending champion in the FA Cup, after beating Manchester United in last season's final.

Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas is expected in Monaco on Sunday to negotiate a transfer to the French Ligue 1 club from Chelsea, sports daily L'Equipe reported Saturday.

Two goals from Alvaro Morata saw the Blues book their place in the fourth round but the win was dampened somewhat by Loftus-Cheek's injury. Fabregas' contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he has chose to leave the club this month in search for a new challenge. Morata struck twice inside 10 second-half minutes, aided by the impressive Hudson-Odoi, whose own future has been at the centre of intense speculation this week amid confirmed interest from Bayern Munich.

But Fabregas' effort was saved by Forest goalkeeper Steele and the Championship side made it to the break at Stamford Bridge goalless.

Morata was guilty of missing a huge chance when heading Zappacosta's delightful cross right at Luke Steele, with plenty of the goal to aim for either side of Forest's back-up keeper.

But the former defender obviously appreciated Fabregas both on and off the pitch by uploading a class Instagram post. When he was substituted in the 85th minute, the entire stadium dismissed him with a standing ovation.

"It is always something that I have had, and it feels like growing up and getting older, it is one of those things that really does never go away because it is technique", he told Chelsea's website.

What does it mean?

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ethan Ampadu start.
