Kyler Murray's draft decision could help Lions

The Oakland Athletics made the speedy outfielder the ninth overall selection last June, signed him and gave him a $4.66 million signing bonus. The possibility existed that the A's could offer more money by putting him on the 40-man major league roster. Below are the Aggie underclassmen who are hoping to hear their names called, including former A&M quarterback Kyler Murray. Now, that being said, could he potentially play some minor league baseball in the off-season and play football year - I want it to be true.

The biggest concern with Murray is obviously his size, as he is listed at 5-foot-10 but is probably an inch shorter than that.

However, Sanders ultimately said Murray can do either, concluding "I think he could do whatever he wants to do, he's that kind of athlete".

They say "choice is a luxury", but aside from the odd referendum, most of the choices we have to make are pretty low key. I can continue to play at both, shows kids that, hey.

"But it's been hard for these guys I've talked to evaluate him because there just aren't a lot of examples of a five-foot-nine quarterback trying to do what he does", Ian Rapoport said of Murray.

PASSAN:.Be back in spring training and a full-time baseball player the next year. In fact, that is quite often the case with quarterbacks.

An important date to remember when keeping track of the drama to come involving Murray will be February 15, when A's players are to report in Arizona for the start of Spring Training. If Murray wanted to participate in the combine, the A's would need to allow it and it would need to be reflected on his contract.

Oklahoma entered 2018 under the assumption that this would be Murray's last college football season, so the coaching staff has had time prepare for life without him in Norman.

Then, Murray did less than an hour later vis his Twitter account. A's manager Bob Melvin, executive Billy Beane and general manager David Forst closely followed Oklahoma football this season as the Sooners reached the College Football Playoff, losing to Alabama in a semifinal.

Murray, however, could be the closest copy you'll find in the current sports landscape. That puts Murray squarely in play for the QB-needy teams ahead of the Lions in the draft, a group which includes the Jaguars, Giants and perhaps the Buccaneers and Raiders.
