Solskjaer Manchester United stay possible after Molde give blessing

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks his chances of landing the Manchester United manager's job on a full-time basis depends entirely on the players.

- Only Ryan Giggs (21y 74d) has reached 100 Premier League appearances for Manchester United at a younger age than Marcus Rashford (21y 95d).

In what is becoming an increasingly recurrent pattern for Manchester United under their new manager, they started on the front-foot and took the lead yet again - Marcus Rashford ripping a finish into the bottom corner off a splendid Paul Pogba pass, following an error from Leicester full-back Pereira.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward vetoed Mourinho's request to sign Maguire, feeling the England defender was not worth the £70 million understood to be the asking price.

A sixth consecutive away league game without a win sees Arsenal slip down to sixth behind Manchester United.

In 10 games under the Norwegian, United have fallen a goal down only once, going behind to Burnley in mid-week, where they then proceeded to score two goals in 5 minutes to claim a dramatic draw.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher compared Sanchez's struggles at United to those of Fernando Torres when he joined Chelsea, and Neville responded by saying that the 29-year-old has stopped doing the things that made him so clinical for Arsenal. "It was a great defensive performance inside the box".

Solskjaer again chose to leave Romelu Lukaku on the substitutes' bench, with Rashford preferred as his central forward.

The reactivation of Pogba's potential has been one of the staples of Solskjaer's brief but prosperous tenure, and his perfectly weighted ball in the ninth minute helped get United off and running.

Leicester's pace in attack may well cause United problems on Sunday, and Solskjaer knows it. "It is a big shame and big disappointment after this game", he said. "It will be a challenge".

The danger for the interim boss is that, by next season, Woodward may have someone else in charge at Old Trafford.
