Hamidou Diallo originally wanted to jump over Dwyane Wade in last dunk

The night started with the skills challenge, and Tatum edged Atlanta rookie Trae Young in the final by making a shot from just past the midcourt stripe.

If the All-Star Weekend wants to get the most entertainment value possible out of each event, it needs to get the best talent to fill in those events.

The participants are introduced before the 2019 AT&T Slam Dunk Contest as part of the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night Chicago Bulls on February 16, 2019 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Diallo scored 48 on the dunk overall to vault into the lead.

Diallo topped Smith 88-85 in the finale.

Harris drained a dozen straight shots in the final round to finish with a score of 26 points.

"Trae was already ahead of me", Tatum said.

Later on in the finals, Smith Jr. earned a flawless 50 for jumping over Dwyane Wade, even though he needed multiple attempts to complete the dunk. Once they hit the 3-point arc at the opposite end, they must fire a chest pass through a narrow cylinder, then pick up another basketball under the hoop before sprinting the distance of the court to make a layup or dunk.

"Atmosphere was great", said Diallo, who ripped his jersey to reveal a Superman t-shirt after leaping over Shaq. Diallo got rapper Quavo out of the crowd, put the ball in his hands, then grabbed it as he went airborne for the slam that sealed the title.

"I was going to use D-Wade last and just try to do a little thing for one last dance", said Diallo. Young sprinted ahead of Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic and banged in a victor off the glass before Doncic's first attempt clanged off the rim.
