Boeheim to coach this weekend for Syracuse

Authorities say there is no sign the 74-year-old Basketball Hall of Fame coach was impaired.

But unlike that January 14th matchup, Duke was able to rally the troops Saturday for a win over Syracuse.

There was a moment of silence before the game for Jimenez and his family - that came after an introduction in English and Spanish.

Jorge Jimenez, 51, had exited his vehicle after striking the guardrail on Interstate 690 when Boeheim's vehicle hit him. "Juli (his wife) and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Jimenez family". The Boeheim family is heartbroken over what happened, as we all are.

Boeheim met with his team Thursday after the crash but did not coach or attend practice Thursday afternoon.

University athletic director John Wildhack announced the news Friday. So getting Williamson back in some form as the regular season winds down would be nice, especially with how the rest of the team looked in the first game against the Tar Heels after he went out.

The Syracuse defense weathered Duke's offensive attack the best they could, for as long as they could. "There's just nothing I can say about it". "They've always been supportive".

Once the game started, it seemed like just another tilt featuring the two winningest coaches in NCAA Division I history, except for the massive crowd that made the dome's walls shake every time the Orange scored. And it's an unimaginable situation.

But afterward, Boeheim's mind was still on Wednesday night. This is something that's there forever for me.

"I've always felt in life, you get a lot of things you have to overcome. I just can't, I can't describe it to you".

No tickets have been issued and field sobriety tests were negative.

Barrett had what might go down as the best game of his collegiate career. It's not going to be better next month. I intend to do that as I can in the future.

Boeheim and Krzyzewski are very close friends, having coached together on multiple Team USA Olympic teams. Authorities say Boeheim pulled out his cell phone to make sure other cars didn't hit the disabled auto. "They've always been supportive". "Such an emotional time because Jim has created a program here and a family".

Still, a lot of people like Drummond believe that with the recent controversies surrounding the NCAA, it would be better for Zion to just sit the season out as there's indeed a very bright future ahead of him in the National Basketball Association.
