R Kelly released from jail after making child support payment

Little is known about Kelly's child-support problems because the entire case - originally a divorce filing - was ordered sealed by a judge years ago.

The singer was taken into custody during a hearing over the child support on Wednesday.

Next, R. Kelly and his team have their sights set on the upcoming child support court date on Wednesday, Johnson said. The controversial crooner has reportedly paid over $160,000 in child support days after getting placed behind bars. He came back into headlines following the explosive documentary series "Surviving R. Kelly" that aired in January.

Wearing a bright red jacket, bluejeans and the cuff of his blue dress shirt peeking out from a gray hooded sweatshirt, Kelly briskly walked out of the jail shortly before noon Saturday after three nights in custody.

At the jail where Kelly was released on Saturday after $161,000 was posted in back child support, Steve Greenberg says there have been so many wild statements about the allegations but, "We haven't seen one piece of evidence".

R-Kelly is released from jail in Chicago, March, 09, 2019. "I promise, we will straighten this out".

Kelly also faces 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse - a Class 2 felony - involving four alleged victims.

Kelly's attorney went on to say that "there is no money", for the women accusing the singer while hinting that the only real incentive for the women going public is "fame". He speculated that the money was raised by friends and fans but said he didn't know exactly who had raised it. "I love my fans", he said.

Gayle King has revealed that she was banned from asking questions about Aaliyah during her recent interview with R. Kelly. "I'm not really fighting for my career here - I'm fighting for my rights and I'm fighting to have a relationship with my kids, more than anything, because I missed a lot of years of their life". Kelly, whose attorney said at the time that the singer's finances were in disarray, then spent a weekend in jail before a 47-year-old suburban Chicago business owner posted his $100,000 bail.
